Last week two longstanding Clayton Equipment employees with over 80 years’ service between them retired.
Linda Bridges, Spares Controller and Stephen Barlow, Purchasing Manager. Both had worked through the former guises of the company.
Linda Bridges, started in October 1977 in Stock Control before moving into Spares a few years later and was for many years one of the youngest employees.
As Spares Controller, she enjoyed her time building a rapport with many customers both in the UK and overseas.
Linda said” I feel fortunate to have been able to work for nearly 45 years at Clayton Equipment, I have worked with some great colleagues, made lifelong friends and I will certainly miss it.”
Stephen Barlow, swapped overalls for a shirt and tie and joined the buying department at Clayton in 1984 from sister company NEI as the progress chaser. Eventually taking over the buying role in 1994.
Stephen who worked through the diversification and restructuring of our business said, “with continued product development Clayton are now in a stronger position than ever”.
He added that having worked with some great people over the last 42 years he made many friends (as well as the odd enemy) but now is the time to pursue outside interests of walking, fishing and watching Derby County.
Clive Hannaford, Clayton MD, said on behalf all of Clayton Equipment employees we wish both Linda and Stephen all the best for the future and a very happy retirement!
